Jesus explicitly tells us all in John 8:31,32,36
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye CONTINUE IN "MY" WORD, then ARE YE "MY" DISCIPLES INDEED;
32 And ye SHALL KNOW THE "TRUTH", and THE "TRUTH" SHALL MAKE YOU FREE.
36 If the SON therefore shall MAKE YOU FREE, YOU "SHALL BE" FREE INDEED  (Remember Romans 8:2 The law of life in Christ Jesus "HAS" SET ME FREE FROM THE LAW "OF SIN AND DEATH!")
1) Traditions of men (erroneous teachings and beliefs said to be Gods word) 2) Hardness of heart (which comes from receiving and holding on to the reports of man and not of God) 3) Wrong Strongholds of the mind (which can come from not knowing, wrong teaching equaling wrong believing, or willful rejection of truth) ALL MAKE THE WORD OF GOD OF NONE EFFECT IN YOUR LIFE. Remember God will never work outside of your belief system if it is wrong no matter how sincere you are or how much you pray. Thankfully we have 1 John 5:14,15  And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. PRAISE HIM! Right believing is right living. I love you all very much! (NLM)
