I love finding Christ our victory in the Old Testament. Enjoy!

1 Samuel 17 “8 Goliath stood and shouted a taunt across to the Israelites. “Why are you all coming out to fight?” he called. “I am the Philistine champion, but you are only the servants of Saul. Choose one man to come down here and fight me!”

Goliath a type of Satan.

1 Samuel 17 “11 When Saul and the Israelites heard this, they were terrified and deeply shaken.”

1 Samuel 17 “17 And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren;”

Jesse = “A gift!”

David a type of Jesus.

Shehber(corn, grain) has reference to true ideas that can sustain us in times of spiritual need.

Jesus is the “bread of life!” John 6 “35 Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again.”

God sends a gift, His Son, His Only Son. He sends this gift to SAVE US to SUSTAIN US IN TIMES OF SPIRITUAL NEED! He sent  His Son to defeat and slay the enemy, and free us from the “giants” that frighten and enslave us!

1 Samuel 17 “50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. 51 Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.”
