How does he know “whom he may” devour?

1 Peter 5 “8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”

1) He knows by those who speak anxious, worrisome and fearful words. Matthew 6 “31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?”

2) By letting in contention and strife. James 3 “16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.”

So what’s the strategy laid out for us in scripture?

Philippians 4 “6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
